To manage risk you need a change mindset
In the wake of Megan's claims of racism in the British royal household, how can one of those closest to the throne make comments so blatantly racist that she immediately had to resign?

You could say it was just an older lady from a different generation who hasn't adapted to modern life. But if you retain an active role in arguably the most famous brand in the world, there are no excuses.
But what baffles me is that, thanks to Megan, the Windsors should have been on racism red alert. And if the need for adaptability is too intangible as a concept, think of it instead as risk management. Where was the thinking about what could go wrong, and what could be done to mitigate it?
I've seen the exact "no, where are you 'really' from?" scenario in a satirical comedy sketch. It was that predictable. Where was the palace self-awareness training for ANYONE on the King's payroll to understand "casual" racism, unconscious bias, micro aggression, etc?
This is an own goal that didn't need to happen. To predict risk, you need to think about what could knock you off course. You need to have a change mindset. And then you need to act to seize opportunities and manage threats, preferably before they happen.
Lady Hussey has rightly taken the fall for her abusive comments. But in my book, the captain of the team needs to take responsibility for the performance of the team. I'm looking at you Charles. If you want to make your mark in modernising the monarchy, cleaning up the mess quickly (as was done here) is better than doing it slowly. But much better proactively to preserve the brand than to try to rebuild it after you've loaded the competition's magazines.
